Endocrinology practices across the globe have recently seen a proliferation in the use of telehealth amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, rapidly accelerating a trend already in motion. In our own practice, video visits have jumped from 20% of our ambulatory volume in 2019 to between 80% and 90% since March 2020. In a recent article in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Griffith et al. describe the use of telehealth for evaluation of the thyrotoxic patient, rightfully arguing that telehealth has value in the Endocrinology practice beyond care of the diabetes patient.
