Logan Pierce, MD
Dr. Pierce was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. He completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he earned a degree in Italian Studies. He then earned his MD with Research Honors from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He traveled back to the West Coast to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, Los Angeles. During residency, he developed a passion for Clinical Informatics and chose to pursue additional post-residency training by completing a Clinical Informatics Fellowship at UCSF. In 2020, Dr. Pierce joined the faculty at UCSF. He currently works clinically as a Hospitalist within the Division of Hospital Medicine. He also works in healthcare analytics as part of several UCSF informatics groups, including Surgery Informatics, Hospital Medicine’s Data Core, the Digital Diagnostics & Therapeutics Committee (DD&T), and the Digital Patient Experience program.
Dr. Pierce’s work aims to improve the way in which healthcare data is used to improve quality and efficiency of care, as well as patient satisfaction. He has worked on a wide array of topics including price transparency, telemedicine, access to surgical care, COVID-19, and developing machine learning prediction models for clinical outcomes. He holds multiple data model certifications from Epic, and has experience using R, SQL, and Tableau. His work combines technical knowledge with clinical expertise to deliver the most relevant healthcare information to those that need it.
