Improving Access to Women’s Health Services with Web Self-Scheduling
Access to women’s health services was made easier last month when UCSF Health’s Center for Reproductive Health launched web self-scheduling for new patients at their Mission Bay and Mount Zion locations.
This comes at a crucial time when safe healthcare for women is at the forefront of recent news. In June 2022, The Supreme Court overruled its decision in Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling. The decision overturned a landmark ruling that had been upheld for more than 49 years bringing to light the need for institutions that are advocates of women to support all women in need of safe, healthy, and equitable care.
With unsafe abortion as the leading cause of maternal death worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, the Dobbs ruling risks amplifying disproportionate care.
The launch of new patient web self-scheduling solidifies UCSF Women’s Health renewed resolve to continue our advocacy to remove barriers and improve access to patients who need our services. Web self-scheduling is just one critical step in supporting our patients at this critical time in history.
